Insight
Observe impermanence in your mind, body, and the external environment. Clearly see that everything is constantly changing, and carefully notice how much suffering arises from this ongoing change.
Pay close attention, especially to the constantly changing mind. The mind is simply a mental process arising based on the body—it is neither “mine” nor “me.” Until now, not knowing this through direct experience, you have wandered in ignorance.
This process is about moving beyond understanding the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path as mere knowledge and developing wisdom through direct experience. You begin to see for yourself how suffering arises, what causes it, and how it ceases—through observing your own body and mind.
As it becomes clearer that the mind is not you, you will be less shaken by it. What is important here is that impermanence itself is not suffering; rather, suffering arises because of craving toward what is impermanent. As you see that the changing mind cannot be controlled and arises and passes due to conditions, it becomes evident that it cannot be “me” or “mine.”
As this insight deepens, disenchantment naturally arises. In particular, the insight that “the mind is not me” can bring about a strong sense of disenchantment, leading to the letting go of attachment.
This disenchantment is not something you force—it arises naturally when things are seen as they truly are. Through this process, you gradually move away from being enslaved by the mind. You become less shaken, freer, more peaceful. This is the beginning of liberation.
