The Courage to Look Within
You want freedom from suffering. Are you ready to look at the cause of that suffering?
It takes courage to recognize greed, hatred, and delusion in ourselves. We may prefer to justify our wanting, defend our anger, and hold firmly to the belief that we are right. Looking honestly means being willing to question these familiar habits.
When the mind is disturbed, pause. Can you recognize greed without excusing it, hatred without blaming someone else, and delusion without justifying it? Observe how they arise, how they shape your intentions, and how they bring suffering.
The purpose is to understand, not to condemn yourself. What you recognize, you can begin to abandon. Each time you stop feeding greed, hatred, or delusion, there is less turmoil and more room for generosity, kindness, and wisdom.
This is the reward of looking honestly: greater freedom from what disturbs your mind and causes harmful words and actions. The courage to see your own Three Poisons opens the way to freedom and happiness.
